Job Responsibilities
- Create maps and graphs using GIS software and related equipment.
- Meet with users to determine data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs,
- Collect, analyze, and integrate spatial data from staff and determine the best way to display information using GIS.
- Compile geographic data from various sources including population statistics, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photography, and existing maps.
- Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
- Design and update databases.
- Enter new map data through a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using cartographic principles, including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, terrain, and map scales.
- Analyze geographic relationships between different types of data.
- Operate GIS hardware and software, plotter, and digitizer.
- Move, copy, delete, and add files, graphics, and maps to produce paper or electronic reports.
- Display information to users and answer questions.
- Retrieve stored maps.
Job Requirements
- Full proficiency in the ArcGIS program in all its versions.
- Full proficiency in AutoCAD – Google Earth in all its versions and linking it to the ArcGIS program.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and linking Excel programs with geographic information systems.
- Ability to create and manage geographic information systems databases of all types (gdb-mdb).
- Proficiency in design work through the Arcmap program (professionally).
- Proficiency in making presentations using PowerPoint program (professionally).
