Job Responsibilities:
- Create maps and charts using GIS software and related equipment.
- Meet with users to identify data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs.
- Collect, analyze, and integrate spatial data from staff and determine the best ways to display information using GIS.
- Compile geographic data from various sources, including population statistics, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
- Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
- Design and update GIS databases.
- Input new mapping data using digitizing equipment or by direct coordinate entry, applying mapping principles including coordinate systems, latitude, longitude, elevation, terrain, and map scales.
- Analyze the spatial relationships between different types of data.
- Operate GIS hardware, software, plotters, and digitizers.
- Transfer, copy, delete, and add files, drawings, and maps for generating printed or electronic reports.
- Present information to users and respond to inquiries.
- Retrieve stored maps when required.
Requirements:
- Proficient in ArcGIS (all versions).
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Google Earth (all versions), and integration with ArcGIS.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially linking Excel with GIS.
- Ability to create and manage all types of GIS databases (gdb – mdb).
- Advanced design skills using ArcMap.
- Professional presentation skills using PowerPoint.
